The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) company policy refers to our responsibility toward our community and environment, while showing how Peake ReLeaf is influenced by values from within our company and how it is reflective of our communities needs and concerns.
Peake ReLeaf’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy aims to provide full transparency into our efforts to give back to our community and environment. It also outlines our continued efforts to provide opportunities for marginalized communities historically neglected and harmfully impacted by cannabis prohibition.
Our Values and How they Relate to CSR: Respect
At Peake ReLeaf respect is not only the foundation of the patient experience we strive to deliver – it is also the ideal that guides our corporate social responsibility plan. That ideal is built on four themes: Community, Education, Integrity, and Compassion.
Community
Thriving communities are built on a foundation of mutual respect and trust, creating a network of individuals who genuinely strive to positively impact each others’ lives. We are faithful in our commitment to building these networks of support, advocacy and education by connecting with like-minded organizations inside, and outside of, the cannabis community.
Education
We believe that education should take place in a fully inclusive environment – one that thrives from the mutual sharing of ideas and information from people with different backgrounds and experiences. We strive to support this environment by addressing a range of learning styles, increasing accessibility by utilizing appropriate platforms to engage our community, and offering a wide array of diversity efforts and programs.
Integrity
We believe that education should take place in a fully inclusive environment – one that thrives from the mutual sharing of ideas and information from people with different backgrounds and experiences. We strive to support this environment by addressing a range of learning styles, increasing accessibility by utilizing appropriate platforms to engage our community, and offering a wide array of diversity efforts and programs.
Compassion
For Peake ReLeaf, compassion means suspending judgement to enable us to appreciate and hold space for differing opinions, perspectives, feelings, and backgrounds. We approach the needs of our staff, and our community, genuinely and believe this builds the foundation for a truly empathetic environment.
Policy Elements
We will continue to work to be a responsible business that meets the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. As such, our company’s social responsibility falls under two categories: compliance and initiatives. Compliance refers to our company’s commitment to legality and willingness to observe community values. Our Initiatives include a proactiveness that promotes human rights, helps communities, and protects our natural environment.
COMPLIANCE
Legality
Peake ReLeaf will always uncompromisingly honor its internal policies, ensure our business operations are legitimate, and keep every partnership and collaboration open and transparent.
Business Ethics
As an ethical company we will always conduct business with integrity and respect for human rights. This includes, but is not limited to: providing a safe and fair work environment for all staff, demonstrating an unwavering respect toward our patient community, always committing to anti-bribery and anti-corruption practices, and continually improving our business performance while meeting all applicable rules and regulations. Peake ReLeaf will advocate for legislation that provides a foundation for minority ownership in the cannabis industry.
Supplier & Vendor Standards
We commit to use local suppliers, vendors, and business partners that will allow us to provide support to the medical cannabis industry in Maryland, and encourage the growth of our local industry. Peake ReLeaf is committed to clear communication of standards with all suppliers, vendors, and business partners. We also encourage those entities to implement their own transparent Corporate Social Responsibility plan.
INITIATIVES
Environmental
Our company recognizes the need to protect the natural environment. We’ll always follow best practices when disposing waste. We will continue working with nonprofits like The High 5 Recycling Initiative who aim to practice, promote, and enable sustainable practices and environmental conservation. Peake ReLeaf commits to waste reduction and recycling in part by using plastic flower jars and recyclable pre-roll tubes.
Internal
Peake ReLeaf believes its team of employees, owners and contractors is what uniquely positions our company to achieve its goals as a business and in the community. Thus, we believe in protecting, training and learning from internal team members through efforts like:
Ensuring non-discrimination in all categories, including but not limited to: race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, class, age, ability, etc.
Providing education on medical cannabis and supporting local non-profits, businesses, organizations & charities, and more.
Having an extensive onboarding training plan for all patient care specialists – which includes handbook training, security training, and training by our Clinical Director.
Having competitive and fair compensation and benefits, while ensuring that staff are paid correctly and on time, and wages exceed the National Minimum/Living Wage.
Community
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community we support diversity and inclusion through staffing, training, community engagement, and business practices that support the lives of people in our community (through financial support of community organizations, both locally and nationwide). We also actively work to improve patient satisfaction and retention by taking into account patient and community feedback through direct communication using multiple platforms.
Dedication to Human Rights
Our company is dedicated to protecting human rights. We are a committed equal opportunity employer and abide by all fair labor practices. We ensure that our activities do not directly or indirectly violate human rights.
